Sri is an Australian Lawyer and a registered Foreign Lawyer with Tan Peng Chin LLC.
Prior to joining Tan Peng Chin LLC, Sri worked with three reputable trustee companies for about 9 years (listed companies on the Australian Stock Exchange) in Sydney and gained valuable experience in various compliance aspects of corporate trusteeship and financial markets.

Sri’s compliance experience includes the following:

General compliance, including:

  • Technical compliance;
  • Legal compliance;
  • Investigations of  compliance breaches; and
  • Recommending remedial actions.

Monitoring  trustee obligations, including:

  • Statutory; and
  • Contractual obligations.

Negotiating and drafting documents, including:

  • Product disclosure statements;
  • Constitutions of the schemes;
  • Compliance plans;
  • Policies and procedures;
  • Investment management agreements and
  • Other transactional documents.

Providing advice:

  •  Technical advice;
  •  Legal advice (and assisting the legal team); and
  • Compliance advice.

Engaging agents to perform various compliance functions, including:

  • Auditors;
  • External lawyers; and
  • Any specialised consultants.

Organizing training programs, including:

  • Internal and external (external agents) programs; and
  • Ensuring the agents comply with the schemes legislative requirements (constitutions, compliance plans, policies and procedures).

Monitoring functions, including the agents (internal and external agents) and the periodic due diligence and the field visits of these agents.

As a registered Foreign Lawyer in Singapore, Sri works with Tan Peng Chin LLC’s banking, corporate and asset management legal teams closely and his transaction experience includes:

  • advising and designing  due diligence system for trustee/manager company and drafting the necessary documents (including policies, procedures and check lists);
  • advising on the disclosure of confidential information among various entities (including listed entities, trust and other companies);
  • advising on various cross border sale and purchase of  vessels; and
  • drafting transactional documents for various ship, structured and trade financing matters.

Sri graduated from the University of Wollongong (NSW, Australia) with Bachelor of Mathematics in 1995 (“BMath”) and University of Technology Sydney (NSW, Australia) with Master of Law and Legal Practice in 2004 (“MLLP”).

Following his graduation with BMath, Sri joined Permanent Trustee Company Limited in 1995 as a Portfolio Analyst (Unit Trust, Financial Markets) and later continued as a Senior Portfolio Analyst (after being promoted) for nearly four years. Sri joined Perpetual Trustee Company Limited in 1998 as a Senior Account Executive (Compliance, Corporate & Structured Finance) and worked for Perpetual for three and a half years. Prior to leaving Sydney, he was employed by Trust Company of Australia as Compliance Consultant (Responsible Entity Services, Corporate Trust) for one and a half years.
 
Sri joined TPC LLC in December 2004 as pupil and was called to the NSW Bar in May 2005. Following his admission to the NSW Bar, Sri has been continuing his employment with TPC LLC as Foreign Lawyer.  

Sri works with people and connects with people well. Sri works hard to rapport with clients to understand their needs and their respective industries well and he has always demonstrated how important it is to think outside the circle to deliver a personal legal service (in line with our firm’s objective).  Sri is also known for his attitude, commitment to deliver premium results and commercial/legal mind.

Sri works closely with most of our corporate and banking lawyers as well as our affiliate lawyers/law firms around the world (including Australia, Belgium, British Virgin Island, Malaysia, Poland, Dubai, Indonesia, U.S.A and U.K) and has attended meetings for and on behalf of TPC LLC in Indonesia and Japan.
